Public relations team recognized with PRSA awards

Members of Loyola’s Office of Public Affairs and External Relations were recognized at the recent Public Relations Society of America awards ceremony November 10, 2011.

Director Meredith Hartley was given a “Best of” Award of Excellence, the top award in each group, in the newsletter category for Neighborhood News, designed to keep Loyola’s neighbors in the know about campus news and university projects that could impact them.

Communications Coordinator James Shields won a Certificate of Merit in the social media category for Loyola at a Glance, the university’s weekly e-newsletter which features campus news, events and accomplishments of the Loyola community.

Associate Director Matt Lambert ’92 won a Certificate of Merit in the video news release category for the production of a video highlighting the research of biological sciences professor Patricia Dorn, Ph.D., on Chagas disease. Chagas is the leading cause of heart disease in Latin America and transmitted by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, also known as the kissing bug, which has recently been found in the southeastern United States.
