Procedure: Online Promotion and Publicity

Need to get exposure for your updated website, or publicity for your department's news or event? Find out how here.

Highlights

I've updated my site. How can I show it off?

The Office of Web Communications is responsible for selecting web pages to feature on the university homepage.

Featured web pages are featured in the Highlights section of the homepage.

  • To request that your new or updated site be featured in the Highlights, complete the online Web Request Form. The Office of Web Communications selects sites to feature in the highlights based on the following:
    • Relevance/timeliness of site (i.e., Admissions is highlighted when applications are due.)
    • New site development (Library site got redesigned, so it was featured.)

Event Publicity

I have an event coming up. How do I publicize it?

The Office of Public Affairs handles all publicity for Loyola events.

Loyola events can be publicized in the following ways:

  • Events are included on the University Calendar
  • Events are featured in the Upcoming Events section on the homepage.
  • Events are publicized through the Unversity Newsroom, Loyola at a Glance, and LoyNews.

Information about events must be submitted to Public Affairs four weeks prior to your event.

Recognition for Loyola faculty, staff, or student

I have a good story about a Loyola accomplishment. How do I publicize it?

The Office of Public Affairs handles all publicity for faculty, staff, and student accomplishments.

Loyola student, faculty, and staff accomplishments are publicized through news releases in the Unversity Newsroom, Loyola at a Glance, and LoyNews.

Information about student, faculty, and staff accomplishments must be submitted to Public Affair two weeks prior to when you want it published.

Front Page Photo

I just want to be featured on the homepage! How can I be featured front and center, with one of those big sliding photos?

The Offices of Web Communications and Public Affairs are jointly and solely responsible for choosing which news releases are featured as a homepage feature story.

The homepage feature stories are the news releases connected to the large, sliding homepage photos.

  • To be considered for publication as a homepage feature story, the news release must have:
    • a wide university audience,
    • be relevant to the events of the day
    • professional-quality, high-resolution photography available and approved for use on Loyola's website.

The Offices of Web Communications and Public Affairs add new feature stories weekly, and are the sole parties responsible for choosing which news releases are featured.
